How to do CrossFit open 20.5
The 20.5 workouts are set for a time span of 20 minutes. During these 20 minutes, the competing athlete is expected to do the following:
- 40 muscle-ups
- 80-cal. row
- 120 wall-ball shots, 20-lb. Ball to 10 ft.
On the go, the athlete performs 40 muscle-ups, followed by 80 calories on the rower, and then 120 wall-ball shots.
Must know things/Notes
The athlete is allowed to perform these movements in any order of their choice. They can also divide the reps as they wish, and as such, there are no specific restrictions on the way, sequence, or even combinations that they may stick to. The repetitions of any single movement don’t have to come to a complete end before the competing athlete can accumulate their reps for another movement.
As such, regardless of how, where, or when the athlete chooses to start their workout, they only need to be in a standing position. They should be touching any equipment at all. So, it’s only on the go that an athlete may touch their medicine ball, rings, or rower, and therefore start on their workout.
EQUIPMENT You Need
- Rings
- Masters 55+ Pull-Up Bar
- Concept2 rower
- Medicine ball (Ideal weight as per division)
TIEBREAK
If the athlete completes the 240 reps within the 20-minute range, they are scored using the total time taken. However, if that’s not achieved, this workout has a tiebreaker included in it. As such, the coach should note the time the athlete completes their 80 calories on their rower and their 120 wall-ball shots, irrespective of how they choose to do them.
When the athlete finally submits their scores, they can also include their final rep count and again the additional elapsed time, which they were able to complete their rowing and wall balls. In such a case, if two or more athletes have the same score in the total number of reps, the one with the lowest time ranks higher.
